Inkscape is a free, open source vector graphics editing program that has it in itself. Whoever controls it, saves cash, bypasses cloud constraints and monthly subscription costs from commercial providers (the names of which are not mentioned here :-P) and already supports the Open Source community by using it purely: because you carry it on and carry it with you!
The software runs on Windows, Linux and MacOS and is not to be remembered in the universe of our FabLab: posters, stickers, collages, technical drawings, fast sketches, mind maps, business cards, small DIY furniture projects, laser cutting and plotter templates, original application letters, generative artworks and much more can be implemented professionally and appealingly with Inkscape. In the end, you are also able to export your file to various desired formats, such as PNG, SVG, PDF, HPGL, DXF, …
However, all the beginning is difficult. In this entry-level course, Mario explains the basic features of the software to build an understanding: How do vector graphics work? What are the installation methods for Inkscape and what are the differences? Afterwards it goes to the inserted: create fonts, paths and objects, object arrangements and transformations, scope with colors, fillings and contours, etc.
There is enough time for intermediate and connecting questions and views on more specific topics that the one or the other has. Because Inkscape is a pretty all-rounder.
