Organising and implementing a move is never an easy task. Especially not when you're lugging heavy machinery and a lot of equipment with you, and when a few dozen people have been meticulously collecting things for many, many years. Even before we started our move to the Stadtwirtschaft in November 2023, we were faced with the big question: How do we do it? As with a "normal" move, sometimes it just doesn't work without support from outside.
That's why we want to dedicate this collective contribution blog post to thank everyone who has helped us up to this point and for whom we have unfortunately not yet found the time! Whether it was screwing, drilling, painting, cleaning or laying electrical connections: It is only to the many hands that we have been able to get this far.
But a very special thank you goes to the Beyrich towing service, here from Chemnitz. Without their support, our heaviest equipment would probably still be standing where it was before the move. So thank you once again for the uncomplicated and reliable service!
Another special thanks goes out to Splendid Drinks - especially to Martina for lending us 30 Euro pallets for a long long time. Without you, the move would not have gone as smoothly as it has so far.
Anyone who would like to continue to support us with the renovation work is welcome to do so! We are always happy to receive donations or new members who would like to continue working with us on our open workshop - even if there is currently not much time and structure left for our own projects.
Why don't you come along to our open interim workshop, every Wednesday from 16:00 - 20:00. As we are still building and have not officially opened to the public, we are not yet back to the way we used to be until the end of 2023. Our big goal is to open the workshops in a well-functioning condition and thus prioritise the restoration of individual areas so that being active together brings joy and meaning.
Unfortunately, we also fell behind during our move: Shortly before we left Philippstraße 13 (our old location), we received an unannounced parcel from tuftingshop.com. It contained two tufting guns and lots of accessories for our textile area. A corner with a tufting frame is now ready and we can get started!
In autumn 2024, we also took part in a prize draw and received a workshop package with various lubricants from Ballistol. These are currently helping us to refurbish our equipment, which has picked up flash rust during winter storage in the adjoining hall and needs to be thoroughly cleaned and greased.
For the organisation and implementation of the Fashion Revolution Day in 2024, in which some of our members were also involved, the company Prym sent us a great textile set. It included a lint shaver, a mini iron, patches, special utensils and helpful information material. Great!
