It has been in Esslingen for a long time, with the cool people from the KOMMA youth and cultural centre: the injection moulding machine. But now it wasn't just going to Chemnitz to show what it can do at the Makers United hands-on festival - it was also going to become part of our inventory at the Stadtfabrikanten. But how do you move such a large and bulky machine?
Clearly - in a cloak-and-dagger operation with Ina, Babette and Maik from the Stadtfabrikanten. They had just been in Toulouse to show how creative German makers can be at the Fair Festival when they received the news that the machine was ready for collection via the network ofVerbund Offener Werkstätten. After all, you can't refuse such a generous donation from the people at KOMMA. After all, Esslingen is practically on the way home. Even if it means taking a tiny diversions of over 10 hours. Although the machine struggled to fit into the boot at first, with a bit of dexterity it was finally stowed away and ready for the long journey. However, this was no problem for our dream team. With the active driver support of Frank from the Makerkutsche, the mobile workshop from the Spreewald, the long journey to Chemnitz was overcome without any further obstacles.
And now? For now, the machine will be part of the Maker Residencies from 9 June and the Makers United hands-on fair from 15 June - 16 June 2024, where it can demonstrate how quickly new parts can be produced from small shredded plastic pieces. From machine components to entire works of art - the new injection moulding machine makes recycling easier than ever before.
The members of the Stadtfabrikanten are also looking forward to the imminent addition to their machinery. Where previously the 3D printer had to be used, many new ideas could soon be implemented with the help of the self-built Precious Plastic injection moulding machine. A new addition to the new workshop, which is due to be inaugurated this year.
In conclusion, we say: Thank you! Not only to the KOMMA team for the fabulous donation, but also to the Makerkutsche for their support. And of course especially to Ina, Babette and Maik for the spontaneous action.
